2020 APERTURE DEL RIO VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The 2020 Del Rio Vineyard cabernet sauvignon demonstrates an elegant power driven by its unique hillside location in the southeast corner of Alexander Valley. With chalky volcanic soils, and little organic material, the vines’ development is controlled and restrained and the established fruit is concentrated and complex.
Available in 750ml format
This is the only single vineyard wine we were able to make from the 2020 vintage, due to late season wildfires that year. We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have been able to create compelling and truly flawless wines, as proved by extended micro ferments and lab testing to avoid any chance of smoke influence. This is also our smallest vintage ever produced from this exceptional site, so we encourage ordering early, as we expect it to sell out quickly.
A note on the 2020 vintage from our Winemaker and Founder, Jesse Katz
“An especially pure and expressive cuvée within the (already impressive) Aperture portfolio. It’s also the only single-vineyard Cabernet from the winery in this particularly challenging vintage. Matured for 22 months in 100% new French oak, it has a medium to deep ruby color and aromas of cassis and blackcurrant bud, ground coffee, bitter chocolate, allspice and garrigue, blossoming continuously as it spends time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, it offers surprising freshness and restraint, with graphite tones driving its velvety, perfumed fruit, and a very long, fragrant finish. Elegant and balanced, it’s the best iteration of the Del Rio Vineyard I’ve had to date.”
